Chemistry - Topic 10 using resources Flashcards

1
Q

Describe the two sustainable methods of extracting copper

A

One way is Bioleaching which is when bacteria are used to produce a leachate solution that contains metal compounds.

Another way is Phytomining which is when plants absorb metal compounds when they are taken up through the roots. The plants are then harvested and burned. The metal is then extracted from the ash.
