Q

what is a precipitate and how are they formed in chemical reactions?

A

Precipitate is a solid that is formed when two aqueous solutions are mixed together. The substances in the reactions react and form an insoluble solid which will fall out of the solution. Often this causes a colour change as two colourless solutions mix, the colour precipitate falls out of the solution.
