Q

What is a cell

A

The smallest unit of life that can exist on its own as a single-celled organism or part of multi-celled organism. Cells and the components within cells are made up of atoms and molecules.

Q

Why does life exist

A

Because of chemical reactions that occur in cells. In a chemical reaction, atoms of elements and compounds are rearranged to become different substances with different properties.

Q

What are reactants

A

They are transformed into products. During the process, some chemical bonds break and new ones form. Energy is either absorbed or released.

Q

What is ATP

A

ATP is an energy-carrying molecule that releases energy when it loses a phosphate In any chemical reaction, the difference in energy absorbed to break bonds and energy is released when new bonds forming results in a NET absorption or release of energy. In the breakdown of ATP, overall energy is released. This energy can be used by cells to carry out life functions.
