Checks Flashcards
What is the FEAT check, when is it for and what is the trigger to begin it?
The FEAT checks are:
Fuel pumps: On
Electric hydraulic pumps: On
Anti Collision lights: On
Transponder: Alt On (this displays you to ATC)
These checks are prestart checks, similar to starting the engines on the stand in the DA42.
The que is when you have been given permission to start up and possibly pushback if that is required. You would start while being pushed back.
THINK: starting a plane is a FEAT of wonder…
THINK: anticollision lights avoid stubbed toes.
What is the trigger for the CHAAF check, when is it, and what is it?
The CHAAF check is after the initial preflight setup.
It is initiated when the seats and pedals have been adjusted, the Nav aids are checked by the FO, and the FMC and MCP have been checked by the FO.
When these are checked, call: “are you ready for a CHAAF check?”
It is there in order to make sure you are both similarly prepared for take off.
C clocks
H headings- HSI, stby, RMI
A altimeters- got the QNH set and the SE accel set?
A ASI- check V1, Vr, V2, V2+15, Clean speed 210.
F flags. No flags displayed.
Check this corresponds with the MCP in that V2 is set, the initial course is set, and the Rwy hdg is set and the stop alt is set.
Next complete the briefings.
What is the GARP check, when is it for and what is the trigger?
The GARP check is:
Gear lever Off
Autobrake Off
Retractable lights off
Pressurisation, check (auto)
It is an after takeoff check initiated by the pilot monitoring.
The trigger is after the flaps are set to UP after the takeoff climb.
What is the PEDS checks, when is it done and what is the trigger?
As pilot flying, complete a PEDS check:
Performance- is the flap in the right position?
Engine out SID- is there a special procedure?
Departure- STATE the SID designator and initial turn
Stop alt- STATE and check this is on the MCP
The check is done after having been cleared taxi and having checked the instruments in one turn only.
It is to essentially clarify the procedures of the day after reaching the runway.
What are the FLAPS checks, when are they done and what is the trigger?
The FLAPS checks are performed by the pilot monitoring and are:
Fuel checked in balance and no leaks (how?)
Lights- fixed lights beside the retractables can go off
Altimeters checked std BARO
Pressurisation checked positive pressure
Seat belts are as required- so can tell pax to move now
This is the last climb check, done at fl100 or cruise alt, whichever is lower.
The trigger is calling flight level 100, or cruise alt if lower.
