Q

Organs in a plant

A

Flower, leaf, stem, root

17
Q

What do plants absorb through roots

A

Nutrients e.g. nitrate, water, magnesium which makes chlorophyll.

18
Q

Male/female organ in plant

A

Male-anther, filament

Female-stigma, style, ovary

19
Q

Bones in human body

A

Cranium (skull), Mandible (jaw bone), Rib cage, Radius, Ulna, Femur, Tibia, Fibula, Knee cap (patella), coccyx, pelvis, vertebral column (spine/backbone), sternum (breast bone), humorous, scapula (shoulder blade).

20
Q

Ball and socket joint

A

The ball at one end of the bone fits into a socket in another. This allows circular movement, all around
Rist, shoulder, hip, pelvis

21
Q

Hinge joint

A

The bones can only move in one direction, like a door on hinges
Elbow, knee, ankle

22
Q

bone is made from

A

Calcium carbonate, a hard brittle substance
A protein called collagen that is soft and flexible
Water

23
Q

What happen if you put bone in acid

A

It becomes, flexible, smooth doesn’t break easily

24
Q

When bone has been put in acid what substance has been removed.

A

Calcium carbonate has been removed by the acid because the bone has become soft and flexible so lots of collagen has been added instead.

25
Ways proving that bone contains water
Use cobalt chloride paper on inside of bone it should turn blue to pink Heat bone and then collect water Using copper sulphate anhydrous- turns white salt to blue in the presence of water
26
Muscles
Contract
27
Tendons
Do not bend, attach muscle to bone
28
Ligaments
Stretch
29
Adaption
The process whereby a species evolves characteristics that enable it to survive in a particular habitat Adaption allows species to live successfully in their habitats Species living in different habitats need different adaptions
30
Ways of adaption
``` Movement Communication Body shape Regulating body temp Diurnal or nocturnal Camouflage Escaping predation Effective hunting ```
