A

Intimacy is the first component. It includes feelings that promote closeness and connectedness. Passion is another component that includes feelings of intense longing for union including sexual union. Finally, commitment looks at the idea that people devote themselves to others, especially over a long period of time. The seven subcategories are as follows:
1) empty love: commitment
2) Liking: intimacy
3) Infatuation: Passion
4) Fatuous love: commitment +passion
5) Romantic love: passion +intimacy
6) Companionate love: intimacy + commitment
7) consummate love: Intimacy + passion + commitment
Non-love is the absence of all three of the components of Sternberg’s theory. An example would be an acquaintance relationship
