The process of establishing performance goals and designing interventions and programs to motivate and develop employees to improve their performance

S- be Specific in targeting objectives M- establish a Measurable indicator of progress A- the goal must be challenging but attainable R- goals should be relevant and meaningful T- state a Time frame when the objective may be completed
