Who is confronted?
The farmers are confronted by landowners who tell them to vacate the land.
What are the farmers described as and why are they like this?
Described as angry, self loathing or cold but are only pushed to this by a system ‘larger than themselves’.
What are banks described as?
‘Monsters’ that enslave humans.
What fuels the wealthier peoples greed?
Technology - tractors and such can do the work of a dozen families.
What are the tractor men described as doing?
‘Rape’ the land.
What is technology absent of that the farmers possess?
A connection to the land.
Who is seen to betray the farming community?
A farmer who has now become a tractor man, earning $3 a day.
What does the tractor man explain to the farmer when he threatens to shoot him?
That he is doing it for the welfare of his family and the bank is too big to fight - if he shoots him there will be another man in line to do the dirty work.
What does the farmer say the tractor man is doing?
‘Working against his own people’.
