What is the policy statement for Organisational Risk Management?
Risks are inherent in policing, everyone needs to play a role in managing risks.
The intent is to ensure we are all able to identify relevant risks early on and make good decisions about how to manage them.
How does police do this?
ELB will set the tone for the culture around risk, and give guidance on the type of risk police is willing to consider and accept.
How should identified risks be reported?
Through the police online risk management tool.
Risk champions are available to provide guidance and support. This is the risk and assurance team.
What is the definition of risk?
Effect of uncertainty on objectives
What are our type of risks and how do we manage them?
COPS
Corporate: Risks should be recorded in our dedicated online risk tool. These will be reported to the SLT.
Operational: May affect day to day operations. Management of this sits with the DC and DLT. Reported in online risk tool.
Programme/Project: Risks to meet its objectives. These risks will be captured in Sentient our project management tool which is overseen by EPMO.
Strategic Risks: Risks that may affect achievement on strategic objectives. Recorded in online risk tool, escalated to the deputy and lead by ELB.

Escalating risks to the appropriate person
What is the role of ARC?
Provides the commissioner with independent advice on a wide range of strategic issues and risks.
What is the 3 lines of defence?
Is the assurance model in risk management and governance.

3rd: internal audit and assurance
