What should we consider with bail and FH?
Ensuring Police bail is only granted when appropriate and opposition to bail conditions reflect the needs of the case.
Primary consideration is to protect the victim of the alleged offence.
What is the policy for FH and employees?
To maintain a high standard of personal and professional conduct, to behave in a manner consistent with the organisational view that violence in all forms is not acceptable.
When attending an incident involving an employee two things need to happen?
The normal police process applies
Welfare conditions should be considered for both parties
Police must also consider:
The impact of criminal offending on the ability of the employee to remain an employee
The compatibility of employee if found guilty of FV and being a respondent off a PO to continue in a policing role
Give examples of when this applies to employees and FH?
Supervisors informed that an employee is experiencing FH
Police attend an investigation, no offending a PSO has been issued
Police attend investigation, offending is disclosed where employee is victim/offender
Police become aware PO has been issued
Police may be involved in serving PO when?
Respondent holds a firearms licence
Respondent is believed to be in possession or have access to a firearm
Service is assessed as being a significant risk
PO granted without notice
