Chapter 9 - Air Intakes and EAPS Flashcards
What is the chamber for the air intake and its material?
Plenum chamber made of titanium and carbon fibre materials
What is the EAPS purpose?
To protects the turbine blades and compressor inlet from particles
What supplys the EAPS with electrical poower?
Ess 28VDC bus 1-1 2-2
What components of the EAPS remove the particles?
Centrisep inertial clearner tube which contains a vortex tube, vortex generator and outlet tube.
How are the perticles removed?
Via an ejector (with bleed P3 air) to exhaust the particles overboard
What 5 components make up the EAPS?
Particle separator Shut-off valves Pressure switches Tubing Doors for the aux air intakes
What does the pressure switch for the EAPS do?
Verify the correct functioning of the valve
When cant the EAPS be used?
Engine has not reached ‘IDLE’ condition
OEI condition (In AUTO)
Landing gear retracted (In AUTO)
When can the EAPS be used?
AEO condition (In AUTO) Landing gear extended (In AUTO)
Where are the EAPS switches and what do the switch positions mean?
OFF: Particle separator is off
ON: Particle separator is activated
AUTO: ON when Landing gear extended and OFF when Landing gear retracted
How much does EAPS reduce airflow to the engine?
10%
What does ‘#1/2 EAPS ON’ advisory mean?
The EAPS are on
What does ‘#1/2 EAPS PRESS’ caution mean?
When ‘ON’ The pressure switch detects no pressure
or
‘OFF’ The pressure switch and pressure is detected
Therefore the pressure switch is detecting a failure of the shut-off valve
