Chapter 4 - Engine Fuel and Control Flashcards
What is the arrius 2k2 engine equipped with?
A single channel digital engine control system with manual and mechanical backup
What do the cockpit engine controls do?
Allow the pilot to establish engine operation mode and to override (if necessary) the auto engine control system
What are the ECL?
They are the engine control levers installed on the overhead control panel, and can be controlled manually or through the trim switches on the collective lever
How is the engine controlled in AUTO mode with ECL in flight do?
The engine is started by the engine mode switch and controlled by the EECU
How is the engine controlled in MANUAL mode?
The engine is started with the starter pushbutton on the ECL and fuel metering is controlled by the lever position
What are the ECLs connected to by flexible cables?
HMU
What happens when the ECL is in the off position?
The engine fuel flow is stopped even when the ENG GOV switch is in auto or manual
How does the trim switches move the ECL?
Through an electrical actuator
What force load can break the link to the electrical actuator on the ECL?
Force of 4.5kg
What can the start button on the ECL also do?
Used to carry out a dry crank for engine cleaning
Put out an internal fire
What 3 controls/indications are on the ‘Engine control panel’?
Engine mode switches
OEI training switch
Two red engine fire lights
What do the 3 modes on the ECP do?
OFF - EECU commands fuel shutoff and engine shutdown
IDLE - EECU controls starting, engine acceleration up to IDLE speed of 70%NF
FLIGHT - EECU controls starting, acceleration, maintains NF speed at 100 or 102%
What does the OEI TRAINING switch do?
The selected engine will handle the loads to maintain the rotor speed, while the other engine reduces to 90%NF. The relevant indications would appear as though OEI
When will the OEI TRAINING switch abort (7)?
Critical failure or flame-out of either engine Failure of interface with either EECU Reversion to manual mode Loss of ARINC crosstalk between EECU NR dropped below 87% Limit override selected EECU critical failure
What do the collective potentiometer (LVDT) do?
Provide a signal to both EECUs proportional to the torque tube angular position.
The signal is the prevent rotor RPM drop due to a sudden movement of collective pitch by changing the fuel flow to the engines
