parental investment theory
Parental investment refers to what each sex has to invest—in terms of time, energy, survival risk, and forgone opportunities (to pursue other goals)—to produce and nurture offspring.
Parental investment theory predicts that in comparison with women, men will show more interest in sexual activity (because they have “less” to do when reproducing), more desire for variety in sexual partners, and more willingness to engage in uncommitted sex. females are thought to be conservative and highly selective in choosing partners (because they have “more” to do in reproducing)
what are the six basic emotions and what are their related functions
Happiness, sadness, fear, anger, surprised, disgust
Psychologists say these emotions are basic and universal because they are functional for survival.
