Chapter 9, 10 and 11 Flashcards
what is muscular strength
The peak force that a muscle can develop.
what is muscular endurance
The ability of the muscle or muscle group to perform repeated contractions for an extended period of time, or maintain an isometric contraction for an extended period of time
what is flexibility
The capacity of a joint to move through its full range of motion
what is body composition
The relative proportions of bone, muscle and fat within the body.
what is aerobic power
the maximum rate of energy production from the aerobic energy system
what is muscular power
The ability to exert a force rapidly, over a short period of time
what is coordiantion
The ability to use different parts of the body together smoothly and efficiently.
what is balance
The ability to control equilibrium while stationary or moving
what is anaerobic capacity
the capacity of the anaerobic systems to provide energy for muscular contractions
what is agility
The ability to change direction rapidly and accurately
what is speed
A rate of motion, in physical activity it refers to how fast you can move your body or body part from one point to another
what is reaction time
The time it takes the body to react to an external stimulus
what are 3 factors effecting aerobic power
age, sex and muscle fibre type
3 factors affecting muscular strength
age, warm up, fibre type
3 factors affecting muscular endurance
sex, muscle fibre type and lactate tolerance
