Renaissance
The rebirth of European interest in the civilisation of Ancient Greece and Rome. During the Renaissance, people began to look at the world around them in new ways, the questioned old ideas from the middle ages and developed new ideas about art, architecture, science, literature and medicine.
Humanism
The idea that human beings should be at the centre of everything should be at everything and we should think about the world in terms of the lives people live.
Patron
A wealthy person who commissioned (hired) an artist to produce a work of art for them.
Perspective
To create depth and distance in a painting

The study of the structure of the human body
