Chapter 8 - Managing projects Flashcards
What is a project?
A one-off endeavour to achieve a specific objective
Name the 4 stages of the project life cycle

- Add resources
- Work smarter
- Re-plan
- Reschedule
- Introduce incentives

Define buffering and 3 types of buffering
The inclusion of defined quantities of time within a project schedule to ensure that overall delivery date is met.
- Feeding buffer - added to non-critical tasks that feed to critical tasks
- Capacity buffer - used in a multi-project programme to reduce adverse effect of resource usage by another project
- Resource buffer - added to key resources to ensure they are available when required
Define the critical path
The longest path through the NETWORK and the shortest time to complete the PROJECT.
