What are the three purposes for reflective listening?
- It lets clients know you have heard their concerns and feelings accurately.
- It creates an opportunity for you to correct any misperceptions.

What is reflective listening?
It is a method that allows you to demonstrate such concern and interest in other people. It is a term used to describe therapeutic listening and responding.
What are the two aspects to which you can listen and respond to?
- The content of what the client has said

What is empathy?
It is the ability to hear accurately the underlying feelings and emotions that clients are expressing when they speak.
What are the three steps involved in responding to feelings?
- Listening carefully to the client.
- Identifying the most prominent feeling you are hearing.
- Constructing a single statement that includes that feeling.
What are some positive reasons for reflective listening?
- Self acceptance
