Is the level of carbon dioxide greater in inhaled or exhaled air?
Exhaled
What is gases exchange and where does it take place?
Gases exchange is when oxygen from the air is swapped with carbon dioxide from the body. It occurs in tiny air sacks in the lungs called alveoli.
Why is smoking bad for us?
It prevents efficient gases exchange.
Why does our breathing rate increase when we exercise?
We need more oxygen for respiration and so get rid of more carbon dioxide.
What are the functions of the breathing system?
To take in oxygen (needed for respiration) and exhale carbon dioxide and water vapour (waste products of respiration).
