When Texas joined the Union, Mexico was outraged and broke diplomatic relations with the US government. So when they wanted California, Mexico didn’t want to speak to the envoy.
Why were some Americans against the idea of annexing Texas?
Texas was applying as a slave state, and if they got in the balance would be interrupted.
What happened when Scott’s forces landed in Veracruz?
They headed for Mexico City and fought a bloody battle. They stormed Chapultepec Castle and finally entered Mexico City on Sept. 14th.

What was ‘The Oregon Question’?
The feud between Britain and America to see who gets the Oregon Country. It ended with a negotiation; America get’s everything south of 49° north latitude and everything west of the Rockies.
What happened with Texas’s border?
Mexico and America argued over it. Mexico said it was the Nueces River, while America said it was the Rio Grande.
