Chapter 7 Flashcards
Formula for Photosynthesis
6 CO₂ + 12 H₂O + Light → C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6 H₂0 + 6 O₂
___, ____, and ___ are found in the Stroma
Thylakoid membrane, Grana, and Stroma
The disc-shaped membrane forming stacks inside the Chloroplast
Thylakoid membrane
Stacks of disks
Grana
Stroma
Holds grana inside Chloroplast
Light-dependent reactions
Needs energy from light to make ATP and NADPH
Light-Independent
Carbon fixation does not need energy from a light source. Source of Carbon
Photosystems
Light-Dependent. Receives excited electrons for a series of reactions for an output of chemical energy
CO2 is used to make 6 C molecules. RuBisCo breaks the 6 C Molecules in half. Some of the now 3 C molecules become sugar. The other 3 C molecules are converted to 5 C molecules to start the cycle again
Calvin Cycle
Reciprocal Reactions
Respiration products → substrate for Photosynthesis
