Uniform Expectations
Expected to wear proper and complete uniforms. Wear the uniform according to the correct season. While working activities that might prove beneficial not to wear the uniform, members may wear either an Explorer T-shirt or Explorer sweatshirt. All Explorers will
wear the same uniform of the same color
Winter Uniform
A) Tan long sleeved uniform shirt.
B) White crew neck t-shirt to be worn beneath long sleeved uniform.
C) Green pants
Summer Uniform
A) Tan short sleeved uniform shirt. A white crew neck t-shirt will be worn beneath
B) Tan long sleeved uniform shirt. A white crew neck t-shirt will be worn beneath In some circumstances, (poor weather, medical reason, etc.) the long sleeved uniform shirt may be worn as an
alternative to the short sleeve uniform shirt only upon prior approval from an Advisor.
C) Green pants.
D) Tattoos will be covered by long sleeve tan shirt. Ace bandages are not acceptable for covering tattoos
Provisional Uniform
A) Yellow Provisional Shirt
B) Tan BDU pants
C) Black boots
D) Under belt
Dress Uniform
A) Tan long sleeved uniform shirt.
B) Green necktie with mini LVMPD badge tie tack
C) Green pants
Inside Belt
Black in color, 2” basket weave with plain silver buckle or nylon with Velcro
Outside Belt
Black in color, basket weave or nylon type
Equipment to wear on outer belt
A) Handcuff case(s) black in color, basket weave or nylon (maximum of two only to be worn during meetings/training)
B) Key ring holder, black in color, basket weave or nylon
C) Handcuffs and key (only to be worn during meetings/training)
D) Flashlight holder, black in color, basket weave or nylon
E) Flashlight, black in color (not the mini mag light)
F) Whistle
I) Belt keepers, four, black in color, basket weave or nylon
Footwear
Black shoes and socks, smooth upper leather, black shoestrings, plain toe, trademarks or logos allowed on sides only, sole must be black and not more than 1 1/2” in height from point of attachment in sole. Aggressive soled boots and pointed toe cowboy boots are not authorized
Items required to be carried on uniform
1) Pocket dictionary, right rear pants pocket
2) Explorer I.D. card, right shirt pocket
3) Drivers License, right shirt pocket
4) Pocket notebook, left shirt pocket
5) Name plate, gold colored with blue lettering, centered above right shirt pocket
F) Pen, black ink only
G) Wrist watch
Department Insignia
All uniforms, patches, and other devices bearing the official logo of this Department remain the sole property of the LVMPD
Care and Condition of Uniform
Wearing the uniform is a privilege and explorers will maintain their uniforms in good condition. Uniforms shall be clean, pressed with military pleats, and not be noticeably worn or patched. Leather shall be polished. Failure to look professional with result in loss of unifrm privledges.

Personal Appearance
Make up, hair and nail polish will be reasonable. Natural color hair. No earrings for men. No eyebrow, nose or tongue piercing. No gauges.
Male Explorers
Neat, clean and trimmed hair and not exceed one-half inch below top of buttoned shirt. No unusual hair cuts or shavings. No wigs to try to match hair requirement. Sideburns will not extend past the middle of the ear, will not be any wider than one (1) inch at
the bottom, and will not be conspicuous in manner and styling. Beards or other facial hair not
