Post Membership Requirements

Explorers is available from the age of 16-20, you age out on your 21 birthday.

Explorer Membership Hiring Requirements

1. Good moral habits, no arrests or records for serious offenses
2. Have parental approval if Explorer is under 18
3. Be of good mental and physical health
4. Have or maintain a C or higher in school
5. Complete an online application, attend Orientation Meeting, fill out Background and Polygraph packet, and complete Learning for Life Application

You will not be eligible for employment with the LVMPD if you have been convicted
of:

A. A felony crime, or a crime required to register per Nevada law
B. Two (2) DUIs
C. Domestic Violence or Domestic Assault

Question 4

Applicants applying for commissioned positions (Police Recruit or Corrections
Recruit) must also meet the following requirements:

1. At least 21
2. Visual activity must be 20/20
3. Citizens of the US
4. Maintain physical condition

Provisional Period

Start in Phase 1.
Attend and successfully pass the ETEP
Discipline=DR’s and physical discipline

At the end of the 12 weeks, Explorers must pass:

A mid term of a 70% or better

Completion of Provisional Period

Having consistent attendance, no disciplinary actions against Explorer, and pass the physical and written test with an 80% or better.

Physical Fitness Test Consists of:

• Vertical Jump – Minimum of a 14 inch jump.
• Agility Run – 19.5 seconds or less.
• Sit Up – 30 in 1 minute.
• Push Up – 23 no time limit.
• 300 Meter Run – in 68 seconds or less.
• 1.5 Mile Run – finish in 16 minutes 57 seconds or less.

Failure to Pass Ride Along Test

Explorer has 2 weeks after the initial test date to prepare to retake the examination. If the Explorer does not pass the retake examination,
he/she will be terminated from the post.
