Q

What are datum points there for?

A

Used to act as reference points when carrying out checks on the airframe to determine if the structure has suffered distortion, measurements are taken down and compared to those laid down in publications.

16
Q

What is the symbol for ground power?

A

E

17
Q

What is the symbol for a jacking point?

A

Black box with 2 slanting legs

18
Q

Where is the fuel bay housed?

A

Housed between bulkheads to protect aircrew on the event of leakage and vented to atmosphere to prevent pressure build up.

19
Q

What symbol represents a fuel point?

A

20
Q

What should a fuel replenishment point be examined for?

A

For leaks and witness marks used to identify secure locking.

21
Q

What are the 2 types of fuel replenishment?

A

Gravity or pressure refuelling.

22
Q

What is a picketing point and what are they used for?

A

To minimise the risk of damage to parked aircraft when high winds are forecast. They are holes or attachment lugs provided in the stronger parts of the structure.

23
Q

What is a earth point?

A

An earth point is any unwanted build up of electrical charge on the aircraft.

24
Q

What is ground power?

A

It’s the ability of the aircraft, whist on the ground, to be ab,e to gather more external power from an outside source.

25
Q

What do static vents do?

A

Static vents provide outside air pressure to cockpit indications. And also tell you the true altitude.

26
Q

What are blade tie down fittings for?

A

To reduce the space required for parking, servicing or storing a helicopter, the main rotor blades can be folded to lie along side of the fuselage.

27
Q

What is the purpose of the tail skid or flangable fairing?

A

It is attached to the tail end of the boom and it protects the tail and the tail rotor in the even of a landing with the nose up.

28
Q

What are stabiliser attachment points examined for?

A

They are examined for security of attachment and amaze caused by foreign objects, bird strikes etc.

29
Q

What are aerials and antennas examined for?

A

These must be examined for attachment and check that drain holes are clear.
