Chapter 5 - Furnishing And Emergency Equipment Flashcards
What are the characteristics of the passenger seat?
Canvas seat lap strap with QRB
What are the characteristics of soundproofing?
Cuts cabin noise
Velcro/stud fit
Fire retardant
What material is mainly used for floor protection?
Ply wood (sacrificial layer)
Where is the pip pin located?
Located under the seat securing the seat to the rails.
What maintenance checks are needed for seats and straps?
Fraying
Corrosion
Contamination
Seat pad FOD
What maintenance checks are used for sound proofing?
Damage
FLAP contamination
Velcro straps
Deterioration
What are the characteristics of the pilot and co pilot seat?
- 5 point harness
- personal survive pack
- back pad
- go forward mechanism (seat attached to rails)
- height/leg adjustment
What maintenance checks are used for floor protection?
Security
Delamination (chips)
What emergency controls and equipment are there in an aircraft?
Black and yellow stripe Survival kit Jettison facility First aid kit Fire extinguisher Master armament safety switch Fuel cut off
How is sound proofing attached to the airframe?
They are attached to the airframe with press studs, nylon clips and strips of Velcro tape.
What are the floorboards in an aircraft normally covered in?
Non slip surface finish
What are pip pins used for?
They are used to secure furnishings in place; they act as quick release securing device.
How are pip pins prevented from becoming FOD?
They have lanyards attached
What happens if a beta light breaks?
If a beta light breaks the area is to be vacated and ventilated and a special breakage kit, usually located in the tool store, is to be used.
What happens when the under slung load jettison is operated?
It Allows the cargo hook to be released quickly even when airborne.
How would you find the first aid kit?
The location of the FAK is indicated with a Red Cross and is usually found in the cabin/cockpit area.
What is a multi armament safety switch?
A multi position switch used on some aircraft to isolate all armament fusing and arming, firing, release and jettison circuits from all AC and DC electrical supplies.
What do maintenance checks are there for door jettison facility?
Check that all door jettison handles are secured with tell tale break wire and that all the beta light are present and intact. Also make sure that all mechanisms are correctly lubricated.
What are the maintenance checks for an underling load hook?
Check for signs of wear, distortion and corrosion.
What maintenance checks are there for the first aid kit?
Check for any rips, tears or fluid contamination to the kit and also check the dates are valid and that all seals are secured and attached.
What are the maintenance/inspection checks for the fire extinguisher?
Check that the FE is the correct weight and ensure bursting disc is intact.
The FE must be inspected for signs of leaks, deformation and corrosion.
The retaining clamp is usually locked with restrain wire to stop inadvertant t operation.
What to inspect on the fuel shut off?
Inspect for signs of corrosion and distortion.
