Q

What are the steps for initial tyre inflation?

A
  1. Remove valve core, place wheel in safety cage, fit air supply to valve stem and Lock cage.
  2. Inflate tyre until bead sits against hub rim, DO NOT OVER INFLATE BEYOND THIS STAGE.
  3. Deflate tyre, fit valve core and inflate as slowly as reasonably practicable until normal working pressure is reached.
  4. Remove airline, fit valve cover and leave the wheel assembly in the inflation cage for a period of time as stipulated in the maintenance manual.
  5. Remove the tyre from the cage and carry out periodic static leak checks to ensure the tyre retains pressure.

Q

What are the steps for routine tyre inflation?

A
  1. Remove valve cover and check pressure with gauge as detailed in the maintenance manual.
  2. Inflate tyre using portable or nitrogen servicing trolley. An adaptor must be fitted in between air/nitrogen source and tyre in order to have regulated control at point of inflation.
  3. Refit valve cover.
