Vasocongestion
The swelling of genital tissues with blood that is a major response in the excitement phase
Excitement
The vasocongestion occurs to create a swelling of the tissue and the clitoris enlarges and this is the first stage - the uterus elevates, breasts enlarges, nipples become erect - increase in heart rate, breathing rate, and muscle tension
Orgasmic platform
It is formed when the lower third of the vagina becomes engorged with blood during the plateau phase
Sexual response cycle
The psychological responses of individuals to sexual stimulation from any source (sexual intercourse, masturbation)
Orgasm phase
Series of rhythmic contractions in organismic platform (usually 3-12) and some women emit fluid during this – muscular contraction
Resolution phase
Body returns to its pre-arousal state within 15-30 minutes - release of the muscle contraction and the uterus lowers with the vagina returning to normal
Grafonberg spot (g-spot)
Hypothesis gland on the front side of the vagina - not all women have this g-spot (found in 10-20% of women )
What is the most sexually active age of women?
25-29
Sexual dysfunctions (from the DSM4)
It is some kind of disturbance in any of the stage - can be acquired or last long - they often start by a trauma, mental health, physical health, or alcohol
Hypoactive sexual desire disorder (sexual desire disorders)
Inhibited sexual desires and 1 out of 4 women experience this
Sexual oversion disorder (sexual desire disorders)
Anxiety - avoidance of any sexual touch and this usually happens with women who have experienced trauma
Sexual arousal disorder
Inability to maintain lubercation until the end of sex act and this may be due to psychological things like trauma or abuse
The Sexual double standard
Casual sex for men is acceptable but women should only have sex within the context of a committed relationship
Orgasm disorders
Female orgasm disorder (inhibited female orgasm)
Dyspareunia (sexual pain disorders)
Painful intercourse - often a physical condition and may be caused by anxiety about sex or prior sexual trauma
