-Dispute over the Ohio Country
-The English move first, in 1747 the Ohio company obtained a land grant from the king to sell land in the Ohio country
-the french counter by building a series of forts to keep the English out
-In response to this, England sent George Washington to tell french they were trespassing, in response the french attacked GW at fort necessity, war begins
British Policies after the War (6)
1) The proclamation of 1763, no settlement west of the Appalachian mtns, angered colonists, denied them the fruits of their labor
2) King george 3 decides to leave a standing army in America, for the colonists this was a royal conspiracy to tyrannize their rights as englishmen

The colonial response to the stamp act
1) Virginia company passed Virginia resolves stating only the Virginia assembly had the right to tax virginians
2) Boston mobilizes a group of protestors, the sons of liberty, used violence and intimidation to avoid the tax
3) New York, the stamp act congress, congress peaceably petitions parliament for a redress
