What happened at the battle of Culloden 1746
King George’s army caught up with Charlie and the Jacobites at Culloden, The Jacobites were outnumbered two on one, poorly armed and half starving… and were soon beaten by the King’s forces.Charlie escaped from the battlefield and was hunted all over Scotland. Eventually he escaped to France and dressed as a woman and never returned to Britain

great social, political and cultural changes. It includes the start of the Industrial Revolution.

Relationship between monarch and Parliament: There was still a monarch, but Parliament creates the laws and controls the cpuntry
How do people get around: Richer men and women still travel by horse and carriages and the poor had to walk
Law and order and punishment: Trial by jury continued which involves savage punishments and many executions. Still no police force
Main types of communication: Printed books and newspapers are widely available
Religion: Most people are Protestant

spoke no English and left Parliament alone to rule the country. George II his son took over as king

Parliament continued to make laws and hold elections. The king had to agree with their proposals. Parliament controlled most of the king’s money
George III 1760-1820
Grandson of George II. Suffed periods of mental illness. George IV took over many of his official duties during the last few years of his life
George IV 1820-1830
Died without an heir, so the throne was passed to the third son of George III( William IV). He ruled for seven years until his death and was succeeded by his young niece Queen Victoria

British controlled parts of North America, West indies, Africa and India
Britain imported silk, jewels ,pottery,ivory and tea from India and coffee, sugar, tobacco and cod from the Americas
