What doest he pastor want Grandfather to do?
He wants him to send Heidi to school and move down the mountain and live in Dorfli. He also wants Grandfather to make eace with God and his neighbors.
Why does Detie return for Heidi?
The family Detie works for has some rich relatives in Frankfurt that have a little girl living there who is paralyzed and is in need of a playmate.
What does Detie say to Heidi to convince her to go along with her?
Detie tells her that Grandfather is angry and wants her to go. She also says Frankfurt is very nice, but she can come back if she does not like it.
Contrast the two times that Detie comes down he mountain.
The first time Detie left Heidi with Grandfather, the townspeople could not understand why she would leave Heidi with him. This time, the townspeople think she is saving her.
“Won’t you, for her sake, do what you should have done long ago - come back to Dorfli to live? What sort of a life do you lead up here, at odds with God and man?”
