What actions and statements of Heidi’s demonstrate her generous nature?
She gives her hat to Bridget and decides to spend her money on bread for Grannie. She would rather give Grannie rolls than have a new bed.
What has Heidi come to realize about her relationship with God and her prayer life?
She learned a great deal from Grandmama and now knows that God knows best when to give her what she needs. She realizes that patience is important.
How do the townspeople respond to Uncle Alp’s visits to church and the parsonage?
At church, everyone watches him with interest. They wonder if he will be angry or friendly after visiting the pastor. They notice how gently he holds Heidi’s hand.
What evidence indicates that the townspeople have a change of heart?
They begin to talk of the good deeds they have heard of Grandfather doing. When Grandfather leaves the parsonage everyone is eager to shake his hand and invite them into their homes. They look forward to when he will join them in the winter.
What arrives that is exciting to Peter? Whey does its arrival cause such excitement?
He delivers a letter to Heidi and finds it exciting because no one in his house ever receives letters.
“God knew what was best, just as Clara’s Grandmama said He did, and see how perfectly He arranged everything.”
Heidi to Grandfather
“You see, today I am happy, as i had never thought to be again. Much happier than I deserve. It’s good to feel at peace with God and man. It was a good day when God sent you to me.”
