CHAPTER 5 TEST REVIEW TISSUES Flashcards
WHAT ARE 4 DIFFERENT TYPES OF TISSUES?
4 TYPES OF TISSUE
1. EPITHELIAL TISSUE
2.CONNECTIVE TISSUE
3.MUSCLE TISSUE
4.NERVOUS TISSUE
EPITHELIAL FUNCTIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS?
5 Epithelial Functions
1.COVER
2.PROTECT
3.ABSORPTION,
4.SECRETION
5.EXCRETION
FILTRATIONY PACKED WITH MINIMAL
1. COVERS AND LINES BODY SURFACE
2.CELLS DENSELY PACKED
3.CELLS ATTACHED BY JUNCTIONS
4.CELLS REST AT BASEMENT MEMBRANE
Epithelial classification ?
epithelial has 2 classificationa
-shape and number of layers
what is the epithelial layer classification?
classification of epithelial layers
- simple -1 layer
- stratified- 2 or more
3.pseudostratified- appears layered
what is the epithelial shape classification?
classification is by shape
1. squamous- flat wide irregular :flat nucleus
- cuboidal cells- tall as wide ; spherical nucleus
3.columnar cells-slender and tall(like column)
4.transitional cells- change shape, depend on stretch of epithelium
exocrine vs endocrine glands?
exocrine secrete substance into ducts OUT to epithelial surface
ex: sweat glamds, mammary glands, salivary glands, pancreatic and acini.
endocrines glands secrete subsatnce into bloodstream.
EX:adrenal, pituitary,ovaries, thyroid gland
what is goblet cell ? what it secretes
primary site for nutritien digestion and mucosal absorption
goblet cells secrete mucus
merocrine glands and examples?
exocrine (sweat gland)
secretory products released NO damage to cell
MERO CRINE( YO MERO- CRIME ) NO DAMAGE
salivary gland
pancreative gland
eccrine sweat glands
Holocrine?
most damaging type of secretion cell
(sebaceous glands) dead cells
aprocrine glands?
scent glands release odor with seretions
ex: armpits (axillae),areola(nipples), ear canal, eyelids, nostrils, perineal, external genitalia
connective tissue components?
made with or contain
ground substance, fibers and cells
types of resident cells?
4 types of resident cells
Fibroblast
adipocytes(fat cells)
macrophages
mast cells
what is extra cellular matrix?
types of protein fibers and where they are found?
collagen-skin, tendon,bone ligaments ,cartilage
elastic- in articulous fibrous tissue of joints, cartilages
reticular fibers- found in kidney, spleen, lymph nodes, bone marrow
connective tissue look at chart 5.5 5,6
structire and function of bone
