Who was Titchener?
A
Believed that common sense was the very antipodes of science- created largest doctoral program in the USA and ruled his lab with a demanding, authoritarian style; no dissenters allowed. Stressed basic science over applied psych. When he died in 1927, structuralism died.

What is an example of one of Titchener’s experiments that he subjected his grad students to?
A
Had them swallow a rubber tube and poured hot and cold water down it- asked students to record feelings and sensations. Also asked them to record feelings and sensations during sex, urination, and defecation.
