Diversity
Characteristics of individuals that shape their identities and experiences they have in society
Primary diversity
Visible: age/ sex/ gender/ ethinicity
Secondary diversity
Based on experience: Education/ religion/ military experience
Trends in workforce
more female, older, less white

Beliefs/ norms that govern organizational behavior.
Prejudice
Preconceived judgement about an individual group of people
Discrimination
Unfair or inequitable treatment based on prejudice
Stereotypes
Generalized/fixed images of others
Sexism
Discrimination based on gender stereotypes
Sexual harassment
unwanted sexual attention including language, behavior or displaying of images
Ageism
Discrimination based on age
Bonefide occupational qualifications
Objective characteristic required for an individual to perform job properly
Disability
Physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity
Committee of 5 people appointed by US president to enforce equal opportunity employment
Article 7 of 1964 civil rights act - Equal employment opportunity commission
Requires equal pay for both genders performing similar work
