Bureaucracy
Organizational model in which most of the important decisions are made by state officials rather than by elected representatives
Centralization
Limited distribution of power among a few top staff members of an organization
Confidentiality
Any privileged communication between attorney and client
Harmful error
Error made by a judge that may be prejudicial to a defendant’s case
Impeachment
Proceeding for the removal of a political officer, such as president, governor or judge.
Incumbents
Political officers who are currently in power, but who are seeking to be re-elected or reappointed.
Interim judge
Temporary judge who is appointed after the death, resignation of retirement of another judge.
Judge
A political officer who has been elected to or appointed to preside over a court of law.
Judicial appointment
Selection of judges by political figures, such as a governors or presidents.
Judicial conduct commission
Investigative body created in 1960 to investigate allegations of judicial misconduct.
Judicial powers
Courts jurisdiction to act in certain cases and decide punishments.

The sequence of procedure designed to resolve disputes or conclude a criminal case

Reform plan in which judges are nominated by committee and appointed by the governor for a given period.
