treatment and prevention of seborrheic Dermatitis
Treatment: Daily mineral oil application
Prevention
Daily washing hair/scalp vigorously (including fontaneles) with washcloth
Use fine-toothed baby comb after shampooing
Often called prickly heat
Miliaria Rubra
Miliaria Rubra is caused by
heat, little red spots may appear in febrile illness most notcable in sweat glands mistaken for rash treatment is tepid bath, reduce clothing Jace used to get these alot
Thrush: White coating (looks similar to milk curds) in child’s mouth
Candidiasis
causes and treatment of candidiasis
Episodes after antibiotic therapy (thrush, diaper rash) due to upset of intestinal flora
Poor hand washing; inadequate washing of bottles, nipples
Treatment: Nystatin ointment or cream to affected area
Superficial bacterial skin infection

Impetigo is caused by two different virus in infant and children

Newborn: Caused by Staphylococcus aureus; bullous
Older child: Caused by group A beta-hemolytic streptococci; nonbullous
what is the treatment of impetigo
Highly contagious; spreads quickly Treatment Oral penicillin, erythromycin: 10 days Daily washing of the crusts Mupirocin (Bactroban) ointment may be used
