Chapter 4: Rules of Shewa

When two Vocal Shewas appear together at the beginning of a word, the first Shewa becomes Hireq and the second Shewa becomes Silent.

A Vocal Shewa cannot precede a guttural with a Hateph Vowel. Instead, the first syllable will take the corresponding short vowel of the Hateph vowel.
