What’s the difference between somatosensation and haptic perception?
haptic perception is part of somatosensation!
define somatosensation:
somatosensation: any sense involving perceiving body and its position in space.
ex. pain, balance, position, temperature, touch.
define haptic perception:
haptic perception: part of somatosensation! sense of touch!
ex. temperature, touch, pain.
define kinesthetic sense:
sense of body position and movement of parts of body.

define vestibular sense:
sense of balance (the 3 semicircular canals).
what is double pain?
sharp initial pain and then a throbbing, numbing pain.
what are endorphins?
natural pain killers.
What is the Gate Control Theory of Pain?
input from touch fibers or that which occurs during sympathetic arousal competes with input from pain receptors, closing the gate and preventing pain messages from reaching the brain.
Conversely, cognitive stress and anxiety can “open” the gate and increase the experience of pain.
