How to decide whether to perform legal interpreting

A
  1. Identify if the assignment is, or could be, legal interpreting
  2. When in doubt, consider the appointment legal interpreting
  3. If it is (or could be) legal interpreting, assess your competence to perform it
  4. If your competence is in doubt, try to decline or withdraw
  5. If it is not feasible to withdraw, disclose your limitations
  6. If you stay, conduct yourself as a legal interpreter
