Drug treatment can be used to slow down but eventually it will loose its effect overtime

95% of children overweight will be obese by the age of 35
Consequences: medical problem risks increase, low self esteem, depression and bullying
Treatment: diet & exercise, behavior modification
Adult obesity
69% of Americans over 15 are overweight or obese
10% with no obese parents = obese
40% with 1 obese parent = obese
70% with 2 obese parent = obese
Anorexia
Pursuit of thinness
Weigh less then 85% of normal for age+weight
Begins in early to middle teen years
Occurs more in white, middle/upper income competitive families
Bulimia Nervosa
Consistently follows a binge and purge eating pattern
Fear of becoming overweight
Resulting in depression and anxious
Beings in late adolescents- early adulthood
70% recover
