What is Diabetes Mellitus?
A chronic condition that can lead to complications over time.
What does Neuropathy (disease of the nerves) affects?
The nerves going to the feet.
What does patients with Neuropathy experience?
Pain, tingling and lose sensation in their feet.
How does the most complication can result in Neuropathy?
When patient don’t realize they have an ulceration on the foot, becomes infected and requires amputation of the foot.
How does Retinopathy (disease of the eye) is caused?
When high blood sugar causes damage to blood vessels in the retina.
What does Diabetic Retinopathy can lead to?
Blindness.
What does Nephropathy can lead to?
To Kidney failure and the need for dialysis or kidney transplant.
In Diabetic Nephropathy, what does high blood damages?
The blood vessels that filter the blood to make urine.
What does Coronary Heart Disease can lead to?
A heart attack.
What does Cerebrovascular Disease can lead to?
A stroke.
