Define Perception
Perception is the process of selecting, organizing, and interpreting information.
Define Selection
Selection is the process of collecting data.

Organization is the process of grouping or categorizing data.

Interpretation is the process of giving data or information meaning.

Schemata is when you assign meaning to our experiences using mental structures. These structures are schemata.

Selective attention is when you do NOT hear what you want, focusing on stimulus while filtering out other stimuli.

Self-serving bias is when you accept more responsibility for positive outcomes, and accept little responsibility for our outcomes.

The recency affect is when someone has perceptual tendencies to place more emphasis on the most recent impressions over earlier impressions.

The primacy effect is when you have the perceptual tendency to place more importance on initial impressions rather than later ones.

Ethnocentrism is when you have the tendency to see others and their behaviors through our own group filters, seeing our own group as superior, desirable or ideal.

Perception checking is a statement you create to check your understanding of someones words or behavior.
