cocaine psychosis
set of symptoms including hallucinations, paranoia, & disordered thinking produced by chronic use of cocaine.
kindling effect
phenomenon in the brain that produces a heightened sensitivity to repeated administrations of some drugs such as cocaine. opposite of the phenomenon of tolerance. why cocaine overdose may occur from relatively low dose levels.
cocaine hydrochloride
form of cocaine that is inhaled (snorted) or injected into bloodstream. water soluble.
free-base cocaine
smokable form of cocaine.
crack (cocaine)
smokable form of cocaine.
d-amphetamine (dextroamphetamine)
potent form of amphetamine. brand name is dexedrine (used for treatment of ADHD.)
methamphetamine
synthetic type of amphetamine (d-amphetamine) produced in lab. other names: speed (powder form), crystal meth (crystal form.)
amphetamine
family of ephedrine-based stimulant drugs.
