Cicero died - Quintus wanted to avenge him
But before he campaigns - visits Delphi
shrine of Apollo
men from all over world had come to seek the oracle of gods

Quintus tells Pompei - he wants to visit too
bid goodbye to Theo
praises them for proposition
warns them to look out for everything carefully

(the journey)
set out the next day
first - journey easy - straight and flat roads
fourth - journey became hard(er)
climbing hills, then mountains
abandoned and lonely - met no one except shepherds driving flock down from mountains
and travellers having visited Delphi

(Delphi)
Delphi on the sides of the mountains situated between two rocks
moved by majesty
on the left - looked down on camp
right - mountains rising to sky
in middle shrine of Apollo clung to sides of mountain

(night comes)
they hurry before night comes
sun had set when arrived to Delphi
dinner in small inn + slept

(next day after arrival)
next day - temple of Apollo
in front humans waiting for Pythia
Pythia led by priest dressed clean clothes bearing laurel in hand
into inner shrine
murmurs heard then ceased
Pythia exits inner shrine, eyes lowered, leaves temple
priest hands him oracle written on tablet
reads through it and thanks the gods

Quintus goes to last part of temple - statue of Apollo
raised his hands and prayed for a more fortunate future
at that moment knew he was going to be a poet and vares of Apollo
left, side of road fountain of Castalius
