cornea
transparent cover for an eye. Doesn’t change shape. A stratch does damage to inner eye and obstruct vision.
iris
The one with color,
Lens
light travels to pupil then lense. helps focus the image. shifts focus between near and far.
visual accomdation
when lens change shape to focus on objects
retina
rear part of eye that sends visual stimulation to the brain aka optic nerve
rods and cones
rods can see grey, cones can see color. more rods than cones.
fovea
area in the retina that contains many cones, no rods.
blindspot
part of the retina that has no rods or cones. meaning it cant sense light.
compensatory eye movements
being able to move your head without unfocusing your eyes on an image.
saccadic eye movments
when your eye “jumps” from one particular point to another
vergence
moving two eyes in unison to focus on a single image
depth perception
ability to tell the distance and depths of objects.
Example: you can tell the distance from grabbing the remote or a driver knowing when to parallel park.
monocular depth cues
depth indicated by one eye. things you notice in a two dimensional image
binocular depth cues
depth indicated by two eyes,
