What does WHMIS (workplace hazardous material information system) require of employers concerning proper labeling of controlled products?
requires that employers must ensure that every container of a controlled product received from a supplier has a supplier label and until the supplier container is empty the label cant be removed, destroyed, or changed
when is no label required for a decanted controlled product?
- if the second container is a portable one and controlled product transferred into it is used immediately
- if second container is a portable one and the controlled product is identified and used only by the worker who filled the container during the shift
when does and MSDS (material safety data sheet) have to be updated/ re dated?
when new info becomes available, or reviewed and redated every 3 years if no new info
what are the three major areas that employees must receive training and information on?
- training and info on all provisions of WHMIS
