How do we know so much about the Celts?
We know so much a bout the Celts because they traded with the Greeks and Romans, who kept written records on how the looked and acted.

We know the Celts were very good metal workers because archaeologists have found many Iron Age weapons and jewellery.
What is Ogham and what was it used for?
Ogham was a basic Celtic alphabet, where they cut a series of notches into the edge of a stone to mark the edge of their land or someone’s grave.

The men wore woollen trousers called bracae and soft leather boots. In summer, they wore a sleeveless shirt, tied around the waste with a belt. In cooler weather, they wore a woollen tunic with long sleeves and in severe weather, they wore heavy woollen cloaks.
What clothes did Celtic women wear? (3)
Celtic women wore, long woollen dresses fastened with a leathers belt or buckle. They wore a shawl over their shoulders or heavy cloaks in winter. They also wore leather boots or sandals. Celtic people dyed their clothes with berries and plants.

The Tara Brooch was found at a beach at Bettystown in County Meath in 1850.
What is a torc?
A torc is a type of necklace made from gold or silver and decorated with patterns.
When did the Celts discover how to make glass?
The Celts discovered how to make glass in about 250 BC.
What crops did the Celts grow?
The Celts grew wheat, barley, oats, cabbage carrots and turnips. Berries and fruit were also grown.
