efficacy
the ability of a protocol to produce the intended effects
diagnosis
a conclusion reached by identifying and classifying the signs, symptoms, and clincial, radiographic, oir laboratory procedures
meta-analysis
a research technique that combines the results of multiple studies that have similar research hypotheses
randomized clinical trial
a study in which subjects are randomly assigned to a control group or a treatment group
best practice
methods or procedures that through research and experience have demonstrated the optimal, most expedient results
symptom
a condition not visually apparent to the examiner, indicating the existence of a disease or injury. Symptoms are usually obtained during the history-taking process.
pathology
a condition produced by an injury or disease
sprain
the stretching or tearing of ligamentous or capsular tissue
pretest probability
the likelihood that a specific conditon is present before the diagnostic test results are known
arthroscopy
a minimally invasive procedure in which a tube-like instrument is inserted though the skin to visualize and repair underlying tissues
