Kennel Cleaning
Shall be cleaned daily
Shall be disinfected weekly
Kennel restful environment
Safety from animal attacks
Absence of distractions that interup rest
No continuing conflicts with family or neighbors pets
What is CO responsible for if canine is Unkenneled?
Shall be under direct control of CO
Shall not expose K9 to unreasonable risk of Harm
Shall be on a leash unless in a manner for which they were trained
Shall not be left unattended where it may have contact with the public, dep personnel or allied agency personnel
Where is canine when the CO not present at home?
Kennel shall be locked w/ padlock
Where are they allowed to be Off Duty with the CO present/available? 3 things
Shall be kenneled
Always be separated from other animals
While off Duty, CO may exercise K9 while on lead consistent with on duty use
CO not home (Time Frame)
May be left in locked Kennel for reasonable period of time. Not to exceed 24 hrs
What must CO do to go out of town?
Shall get permission from DCS
Person responsible for periodic checks must be approved by DCS
Private Kennel facility
Approved by DCS
Licensed establishment
Vet present or on call 24/7
Adequate Kennel size
Indoor and outdoor areas available
Clean and well maintained
Must be separated from other animals
Necessary care and feeding 24/7
Feeding time
Should not be fed until the conclusion of the regular work shift nor less than 6 hours prior to going on duty
Who can feed while at home
CO or qualified individual approved by DCS
Qualified Individuals to care for canine
DCC, any CO or DCS, other properly trained departmental personnel
Persons employed by approved boarding facility
