Collision of the vehicle with object.
Collision of vechicle with solid structures of person.
Collision of solid structures with internal organs.
Levels of Trauma Centers
- Large cities (university hospitals) = Total care. Surgeons galore yippeee.
- Initiates definitive care for patients
- Assessment, resusitation, and stabalization of patients
- Advanced trauma life support… Is sent to other hospital
Vital signs and LOC which indicates a rapid transport to a trauma center
GCS: Less than or equal to 13
Systolic Blood Pressure: Less than 90 mmhg
Respiratory Rate: Less than 10 greater than 20. Infants (1 year) : less than 20.
Cavitation
Pressure wave of a bullet, due to it’s speed, radiates and damages tissues far from the path of the bullet.
Coup-countrecoup brain injury
Energy transmission of collision to the brain causes injury on opposite side of impact.
Anterior = contusion (bruising)
posterior = tension (stretching)
