What must an operator have before commencing commercial aviation?
An air operators certificate (AOC)

Ensure procedures are followed, crew communicate in common, a quality check is in place and accident prevention and safety programs are in place

How often is the oversight cycle?
Normally every 2 years but exceptionally extended to 36 or 48 months

What must the ops manual contain?
All the instructions and info needed by ops personnel to operate correctly
What language must the ops manual be written in?
English (unless otherwise authorised)

A) general
B) SOPs
C) Route and aerodrome instructions and info
D) training
What does part A contain?
Policies, instructions and procedures
What sections of the ops manual must crew members have a personal copy of?
A and B

Define an incident
An occurrence, other than an accident which affects or could affect the safety of operation
Define a serious incident
An incident where an accident nearly occurred
Define an accident
An occurrence in which a person is fatally or seriously injured as a result of:
- Being in the aircraft
- Direct contact with any part of the aircraft (including bits that have fallen off the aircraft)
- Direct exposure to jet blast
- The aircraft is missing or completely inaccessible
Within what time period must the PIC report an incident?
72 hours

Organisation responsible for design, supplier and authority
